Lotta Höglin: A sensual voz do Gothic Metal

Gothic Metal

[English] Perventor: The destruction of the Colombian Black Metal

Black Metal

Membros: Noire Perventor

País: Colômbia

Caterine 1: Hi, Noire Perventor! Thanks for doing this interview with G.Grind blog. First, I wonder what is Perventor’s name about?

Noire: Hello, first thanks to you for the support, and answering you, the name born like an acronym of ‘’Perversion and Torment’’ but it also means ‘’Arrive’’ in Latin.

Caterine 2: Why did you choose to make Perventor a one-man band?

Noire: I started with the idea in 2005-6 it was a project that I always tried to inject energy as a Black Metal band while I was playing with my friends of all my youth, we even learned to play instruments together(hehe), in that time they seems like to play Heavy and Thrash Metal, I barely found people with respect for the black arts and the necro sound, i was already possessed by Black Metal so…I just followed some influences, and started to record.

Caterine 3: Since Perventor is a one-man band, what would be your musical influences? If you could play in a band you enjoy too much, what would be this one?

Noire: well, Xasthur its a big influence to me, Tsjuder, Horna and Bathory, Old Emperor, Old Gorgoroth, Drowning the Light, Nargaroth, actually I never though in playing in any band over there…

Caterine 4: Your lyrical themes are purely extreme ones. Metallum says they’re antichristianism, hate, misanthropy, war and lust. Why did you choose these ones for Perventor?

Noire: I guess, cuz I have nothing good and positive to express through it.
I hate everything about Christianity, and War it’s a reality that has been and will be consuming humanity till the end of the days, and about misanthropy and lust, isn’t hard to understand me in that way right? .

Caterine 5: Black metal is a subgenre appreciate by “prepared” people, because the sound has those characteristics like the “necro sound” that not so many people enjoy so much. How to describe your music to people?

Noire: Like you did, necro and raw, strident with hidden messages in the guitar riffs, and made totally against the wing.

Caterine 6: I’ve listened to Perventor’s ‘Demo I’, ‘Demo II’, respectively released in 2010 and 2012. What was to write, compose and produce such amazing songs like those demos via independent?

Noire: im surprised you’ve listened Demo I (haha), I never though on it before but now I do, its hard to explain it was a very rare and long process, good and bad things happened and at least to me some are reflected in those Demos in some way.

Caterine 7: Your latest work was ‘Demo III’, released in 2014, is a great work though. What would be a word to describe the whole process of composing that masterpiece?

Noire: Thank you for the masterpiece thing and it would be, ‘’Reborn’’.

Caterine 8: And about the recent EP named ‘Destruccion, que siembras?’ and released in this year. Are you planning on upcoming albums?

Noire: Oh, hell yeah! The next charge of hatred will be released starting 2016

Caterine 9: How would you describe the evolution of Perventor’s songs since the start in 2008 to today?

Noire: Like a road with obstacles that I beat with the time, that let me a lot of memories and teachings.

Caterine 10: Do you think about Perventor performing live concerts one day?

Noire: Not sure, maybe one long and distance day, if I still alive and got health, when I started recording alone the samples for Demo I, I wasn’t interested in the exhibition of Perventor as a band for concerts, I was invited once in my city recently…mmm last year, I don’t know why I didn’t say no, maybe cuz I used to have some appreciation to the person who invited me, but welI…i just comment to my friends from my other band and we just played our recently recorded songs (hahah), people didn’t care anyway, was a nice night.

Caterine 11: When we searched we found on your Youtube channel and Metallum that you also play in a band called Ritos de Muerte, which is not a one-man band. What’s the experience of working on these different “types” of band’s configuration?

Noire: In Ritos de Muerte I found what I was looking for Perventor years before…a good drummer, my city Barrancabermeja its small and there just a few drummers good ones too but focused in their bands and like I said before with a short or none interest in Black Metal, I meet Ritos de Muerte drummer, he likes to be called ‘’Misht’’ in Bucaramanga, a bigger city at 2 hours and half from my home, we share instantly, the insanity and the hatred for the christianism, and of course, we started to play together, didn’t take too much time for us to add another close friends ‘’Asmodeo’’ (2nd Guitar) and ‘’Rising Fire’’ (Bass) but they desecrated with us only 1 year, nowdays Ritos de Muerte line up in studio are just Misth and me, for stage live performances we made alliances with two brother-hordes from the other side of the country (Pasto, Nariño) with AlastorGoat in 2nd Guitar from War Metal Band, S.T. and Leviathan from Pagan Blood and Ancestral Mor.

Caterine 12: How would you describe the underground metal scene at your current city Barrancabermeja, Colombia?

Noire: Mmm, no comments.

Caterine 13: And to end our conversation, we’re thankful for your time and consideration on answering us from G.Grind blog. This final space is for you to say anything you want to.

Noire: Well, I want to thank you and G.Grind Blog maniacs for the support, keep supporting underground metal scene, and stand up proud against the fucked up Judeo-Christianism!

Hail...!!!

Perventor: a destruição no black metal colombiano

Black Metal

Membros: Noire Perventor

Eu segui algumas influências de one-man bands e comecei a gravar.

Noire: Bem, Xasthur é de influência enorme pra mim, Tsjuder, Horna e Bathory, o Emperor e o Gorgoroth no começo, Drowning The Light e Nargaroth.

Caterine 6: Eu escutei as demos ‘Demo I’ e ‘Demo II’, lançadas em 2010 e 2012, respectivamente.

Hail!

[English] Machine Of Rebellion: Vortex of Endless War

 Brutal Death Metal

Indonesia, the country which I have a great love and indeed this country has a ridiculous great amount of awesome bands of Brutal Death Metal and Machine Of Rebellion is one of them.

Machine Of Rebellion is a band that is kind of unknown in the world which I hope for a little while, because this band knows how to work and it brings its first release in 2015: ‘Vortex of Endless War’.

In its first release, the band manages to bring this album ‘Vortex of Endless War’ by the label of Brutal Mind which also works with bands like Cannabies, Perverted Dexterity, Omnivorous and many others.

‘Vortex of Endless War’ begins with the track ‘Prelude to Apocalypse [Intro]’ that has an impeccable atmosphere which can really bring a sense of destruction, a real apocalyptic sense. This was the right choice of song to introduce this flawless album.

The second track entitled ‘Vortex of Endless War’ that carries the album title, already shows the strength the band has in its instrumental right away with the drums that work extremely quickly and with double pedal which is well explored to always to a great sound. The music has an impeccable vocal strength in a more open way even in guttural because those growls are always used in the best possible way. This song has bass lines that can leave the music so dense which shows that the band’s work is only getting better

‘Thoughts of Forgiveness’ is the third track. It’s a track that does not let you rest and starts with the weight and destruction. It’s a song that can make all the sense of chaos appear and it makes everything with an atmosphere even more interesting. The weight of this band it is something really worthy of a great country such as Indonesia. The bass is working as best as possible, guitars appearing at the right time and lacking never and nothing, the guttural appears bringing its own fury. All of this I said before are such great jobs on this album.

The Brutal Death Metal of this country is always very well done and always very destructive. The guttural is extremely closed when it has to be and it appears bringing an extremely closed sound. The guitars appear making a quick and yelling solo which can leave everything even better and more enjoyable to listen to.

The bass, which is an instrument so wronged and forgotten by so many bands, in Machine of Rebellion, it always appears brilliantly on its Slamming Brutal Death Metal and Brutal Death Metal with such power that almost makes takes the front of the band and shows how to destroy the world with its own apocalypse.

‘Ode Untuk Kehampaan’ also features right away he band’s anger and more than that, it also presents the individual quality of each musician. A guitarist who can create as simply and perfectly as it is and still matches all the works on the band beyond awesome. Drums appears on this track working again with the dry side of the Blast Beat, but somehow it is still fast. The guttural on this song can bring its unique power in conjuncture to the bass that can bring to the song the very weight of the apocalypse. It’s a really incredible song!
And to end it, a very important message, if you have a band and are afraid of being judged by the cover art of your album, you can do it quite simple and still have a well-done cover perfectly done alike to Machine of Rebellion.

Machine Of Rebellion: Vortex of Endless War

Brutal Death Metal

[English] Masha "Scream" Arkhipova: the Russian storm of the Pagan Metal

Pagan Metal

Originally written in Portuguese by Renan Martins

Translated to English by Caterine Souza

Metal can be really fantastic. It can display a huge amount of subgenres and all of them happen to exist with a unique feature and one of the great things that the metal shows is how extreme the female voice can be represented.

Many bands began to bet on female vocals and it is common to see that the number of women in bands is increasing day by day and that's great. Bands with female members are somehow able to come out with a touch of delicacy and, at the same time, with a different view of things. It all makes a difference and most of the bands that have women are pretty fantastic.

One of the bands that has an impact on the metal world with a female vocalist is bearing the label of none other than Napalm Records. This  giant label also features the band Beseech, which also has an excellent singer -  the wonderful Angelina Sahlgren Söder -, but the focus here is not about other bands. The focus is to talk about the amazing and overwhelming Masha "Scream" Arkhipova. She is that one vocalist who manages to have an impeccable versatility and incredible destruction.

Masha is a vocalist who can break the barriers of one’s mind. A lead singer who can sing with such great chest voice, extremely well done and with a melody that fits perfectly with her. When she goes guttural, she can really be like someone else on the song, but still with all the glitz that only Scream can have.

Fortunately, Oroborus had Caterine on Arkona’s latest show in Sao Paulo and there is no one who has more power here in Oroborus to talk about the singer than our Caterine.

Caterine: "Masha ‘Scream’ Arhipova is certainly one of the best extreme metal vocalists that the world has ever seen. She brings life to Arkona’s Pagan Metal in a unique way. Be it when she sings with her extremely well-done guttural, filling the show house no matter how powerful the sound of the place is, or be it when she comes with her clean vocals, they’re sweet and at the same time wild."

Really she's an amazing singer and she is even putting her vocal density in the most possible way of a powerful and destructive voice. And she still is a beautiful woman with such great technique and quality. A vocalist like Masha can make Arkona a unique weapon to the Pagan Metal.

Masha "Scream" Arkhipova: A tempestade russa no Pagan Metal

Pagan Metal

[English] Espera XIII: A squad on the imponent sea of the underground metal

Country: Brazil

Interviewed by: Caterine Souza

Members:

Ereon (Vocals/Guitar)
Edu Ayres (Bass)
Pietro Bernal (Guitar)
Fernando Ribeiro (Drums)

Genre: Melodic Black/ Death

And now an interview G.Grind blog did with the band Espera XIII, a great band from São Paulo that always presents a very well done work since their first demos.

Caterine 1: Hello, Espera XIII! First, I would like to thank on behalf of G.Grind the opportunity to interview you guys. From what we researched, Espera XIII is an acronym for Extra Sensory Perception Era XIII. Why the choice of this name? What about the XIII part?

Ereon: Thank you for your attention and interest to our local bands, this strengthens the scene and encourages musicians. Congratulations to all for this awareness! At the beginning there was this acronym, after three years with the project already named ESPERA XIII, I discovered and adopted it. Before that, the name was taken from one of the vessels of the Pedro Álvares Cabral’s fleet – he was the Portuguese discoverer of Brazil - whose name was Espera. And XIII, that’s because there were thirteen vessels in the fleet. Extra Sensory Perception was adopted after just to have complete harmony with our ideals.

Caterine 2: The lyrical theme within a band is extremely important. What are the pillars that support ESPXIII? Indeed, the logo is closely linked to the context, right? How did you create it and eventually improve it?

Ereon: A ship moves away from its fleet and navigates to another dimension in search of the hidden mysteries of the universe. The fiction revolves around this pillar, basically. Exactly, the logo is a caravel that we have drawn and then it was made perfected by Christophe Szpajdel. This is now the symbol of our boat.

Caterine 3: The band has so far its entire works conceived and produced by Renan Brito, because it all started as a one-man band. How was the decision to choose and attach the right crew to this ship?

Ereon: It was a slow and cautious process. I do not say that our sound is so complex and so difficult to play, but it certainly requires high level musicians. Since the beginning, Edu Ayres took the bassist position and also my right arm on the band. The mission was to find a drummer and a guitarist. In 2012, we did the first recruitment where we did some jams with our friends Rafael Leme and Paul Cypriano, but discontinued. In 2014, we formed our company and with some changes and adjustments we have consolidated in a quartet. I'm very grateful to all from the start, especially with Rubstein and Gabriel for our experience in this last band formation.

Caterine 4: Although you guys have not made any work together so far, how do the musical influences of each one on the group collaborate on Espera XIII?

Ereon: Live. Each one puts their musical taste in live interpretation and I find it pretty cool. Leaving them free to play as they prefer. And in the near future, we will have compositions together!

Caterine 5: 'Demo Escàndalo', released via independent in 2011, was the very first job of Espera XIII. How was to compose, to record, etc?

Ereon: It was wonderful to produce this demo. It was a new project coming out of the paper. I had a giant energy to do it all! Compose it was like a liberation, because I felt the vibe of having a solo project, so I had total freedom to do everything in the way I wanted. To record it was extremely laborious, I asked for Niko Teixeira, from Taubaté-SP, to record the drums and the rest of the instruments and voice I recorded with Jeff Hita (Spreading Hate). After, I "mixed" it poorly and released on the Internet.

Caterine 6: 'Thy Great Expedition' was a work that I originally faced as an album until I saw on an interview that you guys have been treating it like a second demo. Being such an amazing job like this, why did you decide to maintain as a demo?

Ereon: Okay, just between us, I used to call it an album as well. But for the poor quality of production, recording and mixing, I changed the name I used to give it to "second demo".

Caterine 7: Now, this is a question to all members individually, you guys were playing with Espera XIII for the first time in June of 2014? And how is to play today?

Edu: I had the opportunity to participate from the earliest trials and the feeling of giving life to a project of which I was already a fan, it was fantastic. In current shows, the feeling has only evolved as they are increasingly synergistic and professionals.

Fernando: Much better, we are gaining more and more space, playing in good places and putting bad opportunities aside, I think the release show of 'UAL' was a milestone that really raised the level of our performances.

Pietro: By entering the band, I had to learn a pretty big repertoire considering that at that time the band already had scheduled concerts. It was all very rushed. Today, I feel more secure and familiar with the songs and with the guys.

Caterine 8: Talking about the album 'Unexpected Austral Lights', released in March of 2015, the more "unexpected" for me is to see how much it solidified the sound identity of the band, united to an extreme conceptual complexity of the album. How was to create such a project?

Ereon: It was the most difficult and intense work of my life so far. It is even strained to remember, because I had moments of severe anguish. But it was created with a lot of passion. I started in 2012, the compositions of this play, in 2013 I recorded everything and in 2014, it was sent to mixing and only in 2015, the physical format was released. It was a great and unforgettable expedition, no doubt indeed.

Caterine 9: You performed a concert for the release of 'UAL' in May on Espaço Som, São Paulo. How to describe the sensation of playing the whole ‘Unexpected Austral Lights’ live? And how do you feel that it was received by the public?

Ereon: Mission accomplished! To do a show with every song was a complex project. Great merit to the musicians of the Espera XIII, the great effort they have done to perform the whole album that night. Some songs were not created to play at live concerts, which is the case of 'The Giant'. We will not play it live again. At least, not so early. The public likes, although we were a bit nervous about the whole thing, they all enjoyed and praised the show.

Caterine 10: Reviews and recommendations from sites, large webzines and vlogs like Metal Media, Whiplash, Roadie Crew and Dewwytto (Planno D on YouTube) have composed the list of reviews of Espera XIII’s works. How this feedback is faced by the band?

Ereon: Positively. I am aware that people are fighting for national scene, giving moral support and encouraging musicians to continue in their missions. All feedback we have about our work is valued when there is respect.

Caterine 11: What are your plans and how is Espera’s agenda for the end of 2015?

Ereon: I know there is still much to work on promoting our album. We're still owe a clip and an Austral Lights Tour. Dates that have not closed yet, but we will soon announce on our website!
Caterine 12: A phrase defining what the future aims of Espera XIII?

Ereon: To compose even better songs and spread the interest on the occult and esoteric matters of humanity.

Caterine 13: To close the interview, I would like again to thank you for your time and consideration on speaking with us from G.Grind. I wish you endless success for the next thousand miles that ESPXIII has ahead itself and this final space is for you to say anything you want.

Ereon: Thank you for your attention and once again thank you, G.Grind blog. We wish success to you to be infinite.

[English] Myconith: Enviroglutton

Slamming Brutal Death Metal

Originally written in Portuguese by Renan Martins
Translated to English by Caterine Souza

The destroyer metal genre of all times, Brutal Death Metal presents to the fans this band called Myconith, this devastating band of the United States.

For some people, the band also takes a bit of Slamming Brutal Death Metal, but it being Slamming or pure Brutal Death, the band knows how to do it and they do in such a destructive way.

Their EP entitled ‘Enviroglutton’ came out in 2015 and right away it shows that their work has to be valued, because it carries a potent fury and a very low tone recording.

The first track entitled ‘Sporification’ already shows clearly what the band wants to transmit in a matter of density and brutality. The sound presented is something really serious, but somehow manages to leave alive the sound of the guitar, bass and the vocals can create an atmosphere very interesting with an extremely closed sounding at some points and at times they keep working with a little torn guttural.

Starting at this great with this EP, the band could not fail when following this weight line with the other songs. The second track titled ‘Scrab Swarm’ appears also bringing an extremely dense sound with a double pedal worked pretty well. Unfortunately, the pedal sound was taken with a little low tone, but there is no problem because the band can still be destructive and it shows with the guitar and the random sounds of shots that they really made an atmosphere of war.

‘Scrab Swarm’ features a dry and direct guttural that can be extremely compatible with the drums when it doesn’t leave at any time missing brutality and anger, a track that can proceed to the next song very well.

Cutting out the question of the tracks, it’s always good to remember that the cover art is really something great and it always presents the album in a specific way and depending on the cover art, you can already earn some fans. This EP’s artwork is really well made, a shade of green working perfectly with the background that makes the emphasis on the more bluish side. It’s really an art that can be worthy for the whole EP because this art that can be somehow printed in your mind and this way to always bring the brutality of the album which can be dense in the extreme.

‘Decrepitude Abhorrent’ is the song which appears right away exploring the double pedal and the bass as well. The bass brings a very charged atmosphere and the music starts to gain more weight, more anger and more anger and more chaos, a band that actually brings the Brutal Death Metal.

To the end, the song called ‘Enviroglutton’ appears. It’s a song which is the title trackand everyone always put their hopes up high for the title track. This one transmits the sound of a thunder that comes from hell, actually a song that can end this very well work. This band has everything to surprise the fans on their next work.

Myconith: Enviroglutton

Slamming Brutal Death Metal

[English] Diva Satanica: The fury

Melodic Death Metal

One of the bands that increased public and space in the underground scene is Bloodhunter. This band has a destructive and strong sound because they know how to work perfectly with turning the melody exhausting.

The growth of the band is very connected with the vocalist Diva Satanica. In addition to her beauty, she has vocals that bring the atmosphere of a massacre. Obviously, the band has an amazing quality, Fenris, the guitarist, can create great melodies and the band kind of grows with his work.

The first work of the band was ‘The First Insurrection’. It has great quality songs and at the first sight – or the first few seconds of the song - this band can show what the focus of their work really is and it’s certainly to build up a Melodic Death Metal style very well worked.

Diva Satanica is the name of the woman who can make this band different. In addition to a destructive vocal, she can also stick in the minds of all people not only with her impeccable stage presence, but with her vocal power and her way of showing a side of delicacy and shine too.

The quality of Satanica’s vocals is really worthy to pay attention because this can make the band even more unique and more interesting. The second work of Bloodhunter is this selftitled, ‘Bloodhunter’, that can show more about the power of this singer who is not afraid to put her anger out.

‘The First Insurrection’ went out via independent label, but it’s quality was considered so impactful that they managed to make the second work entitled be released via Suspiria Records and with it the band grew and the power of vocal Diva Satanica found its way to stay inside the minds of the Metal fans from Spain. A band like Bloodhunter seems to have no fear of failure or fear of living, because every work the band bring us an evolution from the previous ones and a higher level of more shocking brutality.

Bloodhunter is the fury. So, it does Diva too.
