This is an interview we did in September this year with this amazing band Sigfadhir by G.Grind blog.

1. Hello, Sigfadhir! I thank you on behalf of G.Grind for the opportunity to interview you guys. Sigfadhir is a different name and it means, according to the band's blog, "father of victory", it’s a name that almost demands respect from those pronounce it. What led you to choose it? And, my personal doubt, what is the correct pronunciation of Sigfadhir?

Felipe: Actually the name has a heavy burden for us because of all it represents. The choice came from Norse mythology, in reference to the God Odin. This led us to Sigfadhir name because it came from our whole philosophy of life that is really based on Paganism, all band members adopt principles coming from the ancient religions, the message that we passed through the music comes from these ideals and we have strong influence from the Norse mythology and consequently the Asatru, then the name turned out to be a natural choice. Now the pronunciation ... it would be like this: CigFóder (the O kind of an A said more closed...), but everyone says Cigfadir, so no problem!

2. From what we researched, the logo of Sigfadhir had some changes since the band was formed, right? Although the essence of pagan/viking metal have been kept, how does it fit as a "brand" to the sound you make?

Felipe: We believe that in fact that pagan symbols carry some kind of power with them and for this reason we use in our logo. The trollkors represents it to us and it is our protection, our banner in front of the battles we face as a band. The change to use letters instead of runes was a decision of us all, since the idea is to work on the sounds paganism more "roots" without many nomenclatures, without being attached only to the Nordic culture and spirituality.

3. Each of us carries influences about and to everything we live and this is something even stronger when it comes to music. What sound references, each of you brought/bring to the band?

Dubh: I always enjoyed the traditional music from the Nordic countries, with their flutes, fiddles, vocal songs, etc. And I come from a black metal band (Black Achemoth). I believe that I mix both things as an influence.

Fenris: My influences are varied about music style. But I can say that my main inspirations come from Dissection, Bathory, Agalloch, At The Gates, Hypocrisy, Carcass, Vintersorg, Storm, Summoning, Finntroll and many other things. I also hear some classical music.

Felipe: Apart from the same genre bands like Bathory, Ensiferum Moonsorrow, Menhir, Heidevolk and more... I have some influences from Death and Black Metal and other very different styles. I hear very much folk music and try to hear traditional songs from various countries - including Brazil – I hear a lot of Zé Ramalho, Raices de America, Almir Sater, Yann Tiersen and Altai Kai among others.

André: My influences on the band's creations are mainly bands like Otyg, Bathory, Storm, Tuatha de Danann, Kampfar, among many others, but overall, I like sertanejo de raiz – some typical music of Brazil, full of acoustics guitars and pretty well done vocals -, classical music, traditional Celtic and Scandinavian music, psychedelic rock of 70s and music with bizarre instruments.

4. The lyrical theme, coupled with the sound, is essential or it all seems "empty". How is the process of building the theme for Sigfadhir?

Felipe: In fact it's so natural that we not need to build anything! Hahahaha. We have quite affinity when it comes to paganism, we are well integrated in it, there is no discussion. Someone comes with a melody, another arrives with some lyrics, everyone likes, then we do some (many, hahaha) adjustments and the magic happens.

5. Something we found when researching for the band’s information is that initially the name was Drunkagård with stories of trolls, tavern brawls and drunkenness to fill the songs. How was that transition to the “current” Sigfadhir?

Felipe: The Drunkagård was a project that did not work... Before this project, I (Felipe) had with André a cover band of Ensiferum, which was the beginning of everything. The band did not work out and André called me to this project, the idea was to be a sound most casual… It ended up not moving forward due to lack of people wanting to play with us... So we were on a break for a long time. When André met Dubh, he called me and said, "Dude! We got a drummer, let's play again!". Then it was actually a beginning and not exactly a transition. We were more excited than when the Drunkagård began, far more seriously and with a definite proposal.

6. Still on the subject, paganism and mythology as central themes of Sigfadhir of course make something very interesting and bring me two questions: do you face any difficulties because of Sigfadhir beeing hosted in a mainly Christian country? What about the individual beliefs of you, do they end up influencing the lyrics?

Felipe: About Christians, we have no problem with that. Of course, you cannot ignore the anger when looking through the past and see how much shit they did, shoving their beliefs down the throats of ancient peoples. This is trashy! But these days, they stay there and we stay here. We do not waste time talking bad things about them, we prefer to rely on the things of our own belief. About our individual beliefs, they influence 100% in our lyrics, we are our main source of inspiration.

7. The demo 'Galdra Smidr', released in 2011, brings a rooted folk metal that perfectly goes through classical instruments such as the sound of bagpipes, flutes like Tin whistle, etc. How was to write and record this work independently? What about the cover art, which is something simple, but still amazing?

Felipe: It was extremely fun and difficult at the same time! Hahahaha. Anyone who has tried to produce or participate in the production of an independent CD knows what we went through. Taking the drums aside, we recorded all the other instruments/vocals at home. It was a beautiful impromptu! And we are proud of it! In the face of poor sources we had at the time, we were still able to record a good demo. It's like we speak between us: this work is like a registry of what we were at the beginning and it is important to look back and give value to all the efforts we made. The cover art is the same thing, it came out of a joke with a picture taken in Monte Verde/MG, at this mountain called Pico do Selado. What supposed to be a test, turned out to be definitive.

8. If I was chosen to elect a symbol to represent the underground metal, I would certainly think about the cassette. Why did you decide to make 'Galdra Smidr' available, by the label of Pagan War, on this format more "old school"?

Felipe: Actually, it was a proposal that came from Pagan War. There was an opportunity to reach the European market in this way and so we accepted. There is no preference about formats to the band’s works, our sound will always be available as possible, whether cassette or mp3 (or both simultaneously).

9. The first concert of your favorite band, you never forget. I wonder the first show in which your own band performs. The first show of Sigfadhir started with it all it deserves, in 2011 on the first Odin's Krieger Fest! Tell us a little of this experience, please!

Felipe: This experience was unforgettable! In fact, the demo 'Galdra Smidr' appeared on behalf of this show hahahahaha. We were invited to play in this fest, which was its first edition, and to accept at the time !!! But there was one small detail: we had no songs done! Hahahahaha Hence, we run with the compositions to play in this show, and that's when all the songs that are in our demo came out! The show was unforgettable, we were quite inexperienced, but we did our best, and the crowd liked it a lot. We even have a DVD with this complete show, limited to 3 copies (only for members of the band present on this show - Dubh, André and Felipe) hahahahahaha.

10. Sigfadhir usuallys play at festivals like Odin's, Thorhammerfest, among others and at fairs like Feira Entre Mundos. Play at places with the same characteristic environments and even "mysticism" that Sigfadhir brings is more interesting to you?

Felipe: Yes, it's always nice playing at festivals that carry this "mystical" in their aura, as the incredible fair Feira Entre Mundos, which takes place once a year in the city of Várzea Paulista/SP. But beyond these festivals there is room for other non-themed events, in which we played with heavy, thrash and black metal bands and we were very welcome!

The question goes a bit beyond the festival style. It's sad - but necessary - say that many producers of events out there do not respect the bands, they make a thousand demands for national bands without providing minimal structure and allowance, and they all go bootlicking those foreign bands... But as I stated earlier: we do not waste time whining about it. We played where we are offered the condition to play and we do our best, always!

11. You are, pardon for the word, great as fuck! In the same year of 2013, the Sigfadhir opened for the Finnish band Turisas in March and for the Russians of Arkona in November. How was to share the stage with these incredible bands?

Felipe: I do not even know how to describe. Both bands are giant influences for us, I (Felipe) particularly have always been a fan of Turisas and was one of the first bands of the style that I had contact. Arkona is also a very cool band and I never imagined I would see them playing in Brazil. To have the opportunity of open their shows was amazing. They were two fantastic experiences for us.

12. Both live and on YouTube, I could follow Sigfadhir impeccably playing covers of Bathory and Heidevolk. How to merge your authorial songs with songs of yet acclaimed bands, without that comparison by the audience with original tracks?

Felipe: Actually, if you pay attention, the covers we make are versions of songs that we admire so much, the ones that are true influences for us. And the ones that have our features! It’s so much that we consider those covers as tributes to our "masters". Earlier, we put these songs to increase the setlist time, since we only had 4 songs. But today, even with more Sigfadhir’s own songs, we still include them on sets, always testing a new cover. It's fun for us and the audience always appreciates.

13. How is the agenda of Sigfadhir for this very end of 2015? What about the future, what do you guys plan and expect?

Felipe: Sigfadhir is without shows for now because we are working on a new album and we plan to record it soon. Each member had some personal issues to worry about, so we decided to stop playing and focus on that album. The idea is to return to the stages with new material.

Esta foi uma entrevista que fizemos em Setembro deste ano com a paulistana Sigfadhir ainda pelo blog G.Grind. Confiram novamente!

1. Olá, Sigfadhir! Agradeço em nome do G.Grind, a oportunidade de entrevistá-los. Sigfadhir é um nome diferente e que significa, segundo o blog da banda, “pai da vitória”, ou seja, um nome que chega quase a exigir certo respeito por quem o pronuncia. O que levou vocês a escolhê-lo? E, uma dúvida minha, qual é a pronúncia correta de Sigfadhir?

Felipe: Realmente o nome tem um grande peso para nós, devido à tudo que ele representa. A escolha veio da mitologia Nórdica, em referência ao Deus Odin. O que nos levou ao nome Sigfadhir, veio de toda a nossa filosofia de vida que realmente é baseada no Paganismo, todos os membros da banda adotam princípios vindos das antigas religiões, a mensagem que passamos através das músicas vem desses ideais e temos forte influência da mitologia nórdica e consequentemente do Asatru, então o nome acabou sendo uma escolha natural. Agora a pronúncia... seria assim: CigFóder (o Ó é meio que um A mais fechado...), mas todo mundo diz Cigfadir, sem problemas!

2. Pelo que pesquisamos, o logo da Sigfadhir teve algumas alterações desde quando a banda foi formada, certo? Embora a essência pagan / viking metal ter sido mantida, como é adequar essa “marca” ao som que vocês fazem?

Felipe: Nós acreditamos de verdade que os símbolos pagãos carregam algum tipo de poder consigo, e por este motivo os usamos em nosso logo. A trollkors representa bem isso, é a nossa proteção, nosso estandarte diante das batalhas que enfrentamos como banda. A mudança em usar letras no lugar das runas foi uma decisão de todos, já que a ideia é trabalhar nos sons um paganismo mais "raiz", sem muitas nomenclaturas, sem se prender apenas à cultura e espiritualidade nórdica.



3. Cada um de nós carrega influências de tudo que vivemos e isso é algo ainda mais forte quando se trata de música. Quais referências de som, cada um de vocês trouxe/traz para a banda?

Dubh: Sempre apreciei muito as músicas tradicionais dos países nórdicos, com suas flautas, fiddles, músicas vocais, etc. E venho de uma banda de Black Metal (Black Achemoth). Acredito que misturo as duas coisas como influência.

Fenris: Minhas influências são bem variadas quanto a estilo. Mas posso dizer que minhas principais inspirações vêm de Dissection, Bathory, Agalloch, At The Gates, Hypocrisy, Carcass, Vintersorg, Storm, Summoning, Finntroll e muitas outras coisas. Também ouço um pouco de música erudita.

Felipe: Fora as bandas do gênero mesmo como Bathory, Ensiferum Moonsorrow, Menhir, Heidevolk e mais uma porrada aí... eu tenho bastante influência de Death e Black Metal e de outros estilos bem diferentes, ouço muito muito som folk e procuro muito ouvir músicas tradicionais de vários países - inclusive o Brasil - ouço muito Zé Ramalho, Raices de America, Almir Sater, Yann Tiersen, Altai Kai entre outros.

André: Minhas influências nas criações da banda são principalmente de bandas como Otyg, Bathory, Storm, Tuatha de Danann, Kampfar, entre muitas outras, mas no geral, eu gosto de sertanejo raiz, musica clássica, musica tradicional Celta e Escandinava, rock psicodélico dos anos 70 e músicas com instrumentos bizarros.

4. A temática, unida a sonoridade, é imprescindível ou fica tudo meio “vazio”. Como é o processo de construir a temática da Sigfadhir? 

Felipe: Na verdade é tão natural que nem precisamos construir nada! Hahahaha. Temos bastante afinidade quando o assunto é paganismo, somos bastante integrados nisso, não há discussão. Alguém chega com uma melodia, outro chega com uma letra, todo mundo gosta, fazemos alguns (muitos, rs) ajustes e a mágica acontece.

5. Algo que encontramos ao pesquisar sobre a banda é que, inicialmente, o nome era Drunkagård com histórias de trolls, brigas de tavernas e bebedeiras para preencher as músicas. Como foi essa transição para a Sigfadhir “atual”?

Felipe: O Drunkagård foi um projeto que não deu certo... Antes desse projeto eu (Felipe) tinha com o André uma banda cover de Ensiferum, que foi o início de tudo. A banda não deu muito certo e o André me chamou para esse projeto, a ideia era ser um som mais descompromissado.... Acabou não indo para frente por falta de pessoas querendo tocar... Então ficamos muito tempo parados. Quando o André conheceu o Dubh, ele me ligou e falou: “Cara! Consegui um baterista, vamos voltar a tocar!” então na verdade foi um começo e não exatamente uma transição. Estávamos mais empolgados do que quando o Drunkagård começou, agora de forma mais séria e com uma proposta definida.

6. Ainda sobre a temática, o paganismo e a mitologia como temas centrais da Sigfadhir formam algo muito interessante e que me trazem duas perguntas, quase dúvidas mesmo: vocês enfrentam alguma dificuldade por conta de estarem num país majoritariamente cristão? E quanto às crenças individuais de vocês, elas acabam influenciando as letras?

Felipe: Sobre cristãos, não temos problemas com isso. Claro que não dá para ignorar a raiva quando se olha para o passado e se vê quanta merda eles fizeram, empurrando suas crenças goela abaixo dos povos antigos. Isso é um lixo! Mas nos dias de hoje são eles de lá e a gente de cá. Não perdemos tempo falando mal deles, preferimos contar sobre as coisas da nossa própria crença. Sobre nossas convicções individuais, elas influenciam 100% nas nossas letras, são nossa principal fonte de inspiração.

7. A demo ‘Galdra Smidr’, lançada em 2011, traz um folk enraizado através dos instrumentos clássicos desse tipo de som como a gaita de fole, flautas como a Tin whistle, etc. Como foi compor e gravar este trabalho de forma independente? E quanto à arte de capa, simples, mas ainda assim, incrível?

Felipe: Foi extremamente divertido e trabalhoso ao mesmo tempo! Hahahaha. Quem já experimentou produzir ou participar da produção de um CD de forma independente sabe o que passamos. Tirando a bateria, gravamos todos os outros instrumentos/vocais em casa, foi um belo de um improviso! E nos orgulhamos disso! Diante das opções precárias que tínhamos conseguimos gravar uma ótima demo. É como falamos entre a gente: esse trabalho é um registro de como éramos no início e é importante olhar para trás e dar o valor ao esforço feito. A capa é a mesma coisa, saiu de uma brincadeira com uma foto tirada em Monte Verde/MG, no Pico do Selado. O que era um teste acabou sendo definitivo.

8. Se fosse para eleger um símbolo para representar o metal underground acho que seria a fita cassette. Por que resolveram disponibilizar ‘Galdra Smidr’, pelo selo da Pagan War, neste formato mais “old school”? 

Felipe: Na verdade, foi uma proposta que nos chegou da Pagan War. Havia uma oportunidade de atingir o mercado europeu desta forma e a aceitamos. Não existe uma preferência da banda quanto aos formatos, nosso som sempre vai estar disponível como for possível, seja K7 ou mp3 (ou as duas coisas ao mesmo tempo).



9. O primeiro show da sua banda favorita, você nunca esquece. Fico imaginando o primeiro show no qual a sua própria banda se apresenta. O primeiro show da Sigfadhir já começou com tudo, em 2011 no primeiro Odin’s Krieger Fest! Contem-nos um pouco desta experiência, por favor!

Felipe: Essa experiência foi inesquecível! Na verdade, a demo ‘Galdra Smidr’ surgiu por conta deste show hahahahaha. Fomos convidados para tocar nesta, que foi a primeira edição do OKF, e a aceitamos na hora!!! Porém, havia um pequeno detalhe: não tínhamos nenhuma música pronta! Hahahahaha Daí, corremos com as composições para tocar neste show, e foi aí que surgiram todas as músicas que estão na nossa demo! O show foi inesquecível, éramos bastante inexperientes, mas fizemos nosso melhor, e a galera curtiu bastante. Temos até um DVD com esse show completo, limitado a 3 cópias (só para os integrantes do show em questão - Dubh, André e Felipe) hahahahahaha.

10. Vocês costumam tocar em festivais, como o Odin’s, Thorhammerfest, entre outros e em feiras como a Entre Mundos. Tocar em ambientes de mesma característica e até mesmo “misticismo” que a Sigfadhir traz é mais interessante para vocês?

Felipe: Sim, é sempre muito bacana tocar em festivais que carregam esta "mística" em sua aura, como a incrível Feira Entre Mundos, que acontece uma vez ao ano na cidade de Várzea Paulista/SP. Mas além destes festivais há espaço em outros eventos não temáticos, nos quais já tocamos com bandas de heavy, thrash, black metal, e fomos muito bem recebidos! A questão vai um pouco além do estilo do festival. É triste - mas necessário - afirmar que muitos produtores de eventos por aí não respeitam as bandas, fazem mil exigências para as bandas nacionais sem proporcionar o mínimo de estrutura e ajuda de custo, e BABAM OVO das bandas gringas... Mas como dito anteriormente, não perdemos tempo choramingando. Tocamos onde nos é oferecida a condição para tocar e fazemos o nosso melhor, sempre!

11. Vocês são, com o perdão da palavra, fodas mesmo! No mesmo ano de 2013, a Sigfadhir abriu para os finlandeses do Turisas em Março e para os russos da Arkona em Novembro. Como foi dividir palcos com estas bandas incríveis?

Felipe: Não sei nem como descrever. As duas bandas são influências gigantes para a gente, eu (Felipe) particularmente sempre fui fã de Turisas e foi uma das primeiras bandas do estilo que tive contato. O Arkona também é uma banda muito foda e eu jamais imaginei que conseguiria vê-los tocando no Brasil, ter a oportunidade de abrir o show deles foi incrível. Foram duas experiências fantásticas para nós.

12. Tanto ao vivo, como no YouTube, pude acompanhar a Sigfadhir tocando covers impecáveis de Bathory e Heidevolk. Como mesclar trabalhos autorais com músicas de bandas aclamadas, sem aquela comparação por meio do público com as faixas originais?

Felipe: Na verdade se você prestar atenção, os covers que fazemos são versões de músicas que admiramos muito, que são verdadeiras influências para nós. E elas têm as nossas características! Tanto é assim que as consideramos tributos, homenagens aos nossos "mestres". No início colocamos essas músicas para aumentar o tempo do setlist, já que só tínhamos 4 sons autorais. Mas hoje, mesmo com mais músicas próprias, ainda incluímos elas nos sets, sempre tentando um cover novo. É divertido para nós, e o público sempre aprecia.

13. Como está a agenda da Sigfadhir  para este finalzinho de 2015? E quanto ao futuro, o que planejam e esperam?

Felipe: O Sigfadhir está sem shows previstos, nós estamos trabalhando nas músicas do álbum novo e pretendemos gravar em breve. Cada membro tinha algumas questões pessoais para se dedicar, então decidimos parar de tocar e nos focar nisso. A ideia é voltar nos próximos meses para os palcos com material novo.



14. Para finalizar nossa conversa, gostaria de agradecê-los novamente em nome do G.Grind pelo tempo e disposição de vocês e deixar aqui meus desejos de sucesso e longa vida a Sigfadhir. O espaço final é livre pra vocês!

[English] Enforcation: obscurity on death metal from Sorocaba

Enforcation is an amazing band that I had the opportunity to meet them because of a show they did with Espera XIII. On this, I talk a little with Victor, one of four people from Sorocaba behind this sensational band. Check it out!

1. Hello, Enforcation! First, thank you very much on behalf of Oroborus blog for this interview. Enforcation is a perfect name for the proposed NWOBDM you have for the band. Where did 'Enforcation' come from?

Victor: Enforcation came from two friends who met on the Internet, Lucas (drums) and Riick (bass). The initial proposal was to make  some thrash from the 80's, when I (Victor) was invited to be the guitar player on band it was also in the thrash vibe, but when Matheus (vocals) entered on the band, he brought several of his influences and his guttural slowly brought us to some death metal style.




2. The logo of Enforcation reminds me slightly of the logo from the Polish band, Decapitated, for being so amazing like yours. Who designed this?
Victor: You must be referring to our first logo. Actually, it resembles the logo of Decapitated. It was made by Nettowolf. We liked it very much until discover that there was already a Latin band that uses a logo with the exact same "word typing" of ours. We had to come up with another with an artist named Yago Dawkings, who did an exceptional job. We're still in love with this new logo that is what we are currently using on the Facebook page, tees etc.

3. Although the band is on its only two years on the road, it has already defined lyrical themes as gore, horror and suffering, according to Metallum. How does the construction of Enforcation lyrics work to incorporate themselves to the songs?

Victor: Most of the time I like to invent their own story or to modify some existing one. The influences come from various places, from classic movies, even more bizarre stories going to the psychological side. After the instrumental already done, I start thinking about which theme approaches to those melodies and, in a few cases, I am with the theme in mind when I'm writing the instrumental part.



4. What influences that each of you bring to Enforcation?

Victor: In general, we bring the same influences to the band. Such as Death, Morbid Angel and Cannibal Corpse.

5. 'Chapel of Screams' is a demo released in 2014. It was the first work of Enforcation. Since that, once can already feel that you sound unique, full-bodied, despite the recording quality as it usually happens with all demos. How was to produce it?
Victor: That time we were already starting to play some authorial songs in shows and we really wanted to have some recorded material to disclose. Matheus (vocals) already had some recording notion, so we decided to record at his house. I made up a collection with the others to be able to buy a fairly good microphone and so we took a borrowed audio interface. I remember pretty much spending the whole day writing, from 9am until 10pm and at that time the result impressed us. We were very pleased with what we had done with so little.




6. In 2014, Enforcation have released a single album containing 'Enforcation Intro' that opens the album beautifully to leave it with certain gloomy atmosphere, only to be replaced the electrifying 'Night of Mayhem', which I may highlight the vocals and speedy riffs. How was to Enforcation on recording and releasing it?

Victor: A friend of ours who followed with a final project in Phonographic Production needed a band to record and be the experiment to the students, so we were the chosen band and were very happy for this opportunity to record in a real studio. The only problem was that the recording date was on the date of my trip, then all the recording of guitars were made by Matheus and while he was recording, I got a piano as a gift and I was beginning to come up with the intro song. When we released it, we had great response, and still think it's the public's number one song.




7. From what we could see on Enforcation's Facebook page, you guys participate in some fests in that region quite often, such as Metal Connection, Bones Rock Fest, etc. How would you describe the scene of underground metal in Sorocaba and region?
Victor: Definitely the high point of the scene is in Votorantim because of its culture politics, called Palco Livre. This free events happen on average once a month always. It brings new and different regions' bands, but without leaving the metal context. Enforcation has played a few times there and it's just amazing because of the audience and the energy of that place, but when it comes to concerts in bars /venues, I cannot say the same, but always have that loyal public!





8. In 2015, came the latest work of Enforcation, the EP 'Pits of Fire and Torment'. How was composing and recording this amazing work?
Victor: It was great! We had new songs waiting to be recorded from the time of 'Night of Mayhem' single, at that time Matheus and I composed separately, but always giving freedom of one to give his own opinion on the music the other produced and when we decided to record, we were very anxious. Now, with a little more knowledge, we recorded in the same schema of the demo, but  the drums and vocals in separate studios, we did what was within our reach and we were pleased with the result.

9. In January of this year, you have done the event 'The Morbid Ocean Ritual Night', for release of the EP mentioned above, next to the São Paulo's band Espera XIII. How was to unite the excellent work of Enforcation with the also exceptional quality of Espera XIII?

Victor: Great experience, Espera XIII has a different theme from ours, but basically the essence is the same. To know these guys personally it was fantastic. In addition to the fellowship, they are great musicians.




10. Two months ago came out the video for the track 'Melody of Immortality'. How was to idealize and record?

Victor: It was a very simple lyric video made by Matheus, using excerpts from old shows, just to give more charm to this song.




11. How would you describe the sound of Enforcation, using only three words?

Victor: Weight, Dark, Atmospheric.





12. How is the agenda of Enforcation? And are there plans for a near future?

Victor: I do not know when this interview will be posted, but at the moment we are only booked with a show at Brutal Metal Fest II, with many fucking great bands of extreme metal and the North American, Master, as headliner, on December 6th. Our next plan is to record a single and a video clip showing our new identity. The release is scheduled for early 2016.

'Kinetik', if you haven't heard this album, you need to and I guarantee that if you like an interesting Metal joining the Industrial kind with a sip of gothic metal and a little dance on a few songs, for sure you'll love this unique and amazing work called 'Kinetik'.

This is the album from the band Omega Lithium. It's in fact amazing, but much of its fantastic way is the creative that the band has on the sound, in their clothes, but also the amazing vocals from the magnificent and impressive Mya Mortensen.

The weight and the creativity on the way their sound blends perfectly with the vocals of Mya, once she has a very distinctive voice in a tone that doesn't tire at any time. The weight of the songs working with the vocals of this fantastic woman is really destructive and that makes this album something memorable.
Speaking of creativity, it would have no way to skip on mentioning the beginning of the song 'Dance With Me' which has a very melodic voice of a girl while the sound totally brings a dancing atmosphere and step-by-step it's crawling into some kind of chaos and all this is guided by the voice of this beautiful woman. So, everything is really unique .

The sensuality and the most danceable side of the album probably come out in the best song. One of the best songs on this album very unique within the metal world  it's called 'Strip Me'. This song is something that leaves everyone speechless. It has a catchy melody in the instrumental and at the same time, the vocals of Mya Mortensen present sensuality in a lovely and sexy tone that perfectly matches the Industrial side. It counts with the support of the serious voice of another band's member that makes the atmosphere even more striking and even more interesting.

I also would have no way to talk about this band and singer without mentioning that the band was very smart to choose her as a vocalist, because the band turned out to be unique in absolutely everything they do.
The band uses uniforms and that makes it more interesting and more alive. Their shows  become even more impressive and still get more space in the hearts of fans.

Mya Mortensen showed on her work all her qualities in vocal which are undeniable and present us a lesson in how to be unique to each song and each wrok she does.

Mya Mortensen: a alma da originalidade

Kinetik, se você ainda não escutou esse álbum, você precisa e garanto que se você gosta de um Metal interessante que junta o Industrial com um pouco do Gothic Metal e um tanto dançante em algumas músicas, se você gosta de tudo isso, com toda certeza você vai amar esse trabalho único e incrível.

Esse é o álbum da banda Omega Lithium. Ele é de fato fantástico, mas muito do fato dele ser fantástico é pela forma criativa que a banda apresenta o som, tanto nas roupas, como também no vocal incrível da magnífica e impactante, Mya Mortensen.

A sonoridade com peso e criatividade que traz em seu instrumental combina perfeitamente com o vocal de Mya que tem uma voz bem marcante e que consegue ser em um tom que não cansa em momento algum. O peso das músicas junto do vocal dessa mulher fantástica é realmente destruidor e isso faz desse álbum algo memorável.

Falando em criatividade não teria como não falar do começo da música “Dance With Me” que tem uma voz extremamente melódica de uma garota e o som traz totalmente uma atmosfera de dança dentro do caos e isso sendo guiado pela voz dessa linda mulher é realmente único.

A sensualidade e o lado mais dançante do álbum acabam ganhando vida provavelmente na melhor música também ou uma das melhores músicas desse álbum muito único dentro do mundo do Metal que é a música Strip Me.

Essa música é algo que deixa todo mundo sem palavras, ela tem uma melodia grudenta no instrumental e o vocal da Mya Mortensen apresenta sensualidade em um tom de amante no começo da música e o refrão com sua voz gostosa de escutar e que combina perfeitamente com o industrial ganha o apoio da voz grave de outro membro da banda e isso deixa uma atmosfera ainda mais impactante e ainda mais interessante.

Não teria como falar dessa banda e da vocalista e não falar que a banda foi muito feliz em escolher ser original em absolutamente tudo.

O visual da vocalista e da banda segue um uniforme e isso deixa tudo mais interessante e mais vivo, o show se torna mais impactante e ganha ainda mais espaço no coração dos fãs.

Mya Mortensen mostrou nesse trabalho e nos outros também que sua qualidade no vocal é inegável e ela apresenta uma aula de como ser original a cada música e a cada trabalho.

Enforcation: obscuridade e peso no death metal sorocabano

Enforcation é uma banda sensacional que tive a oportunidade de conhecê-los por conta de um show que fizeram com a Espera XIII. A seguir, converso um pouco com Victor, um dos quatro sorocabanos por traz dessa banda sensacional. Confiram!


1. Olá, Enforcation! Primeiro, muito obrigada em nome do blog Oroborus pela entrevista. Enforcation é um nome que combina com a proposta de NWOBDM que vocês tem para a banda. De onde surgiu ‘Enforcation’?

Victor: A Enforcation surgiu de dois amigos que se conheceram na internet, Lucas (baterista) e Rick (baixista). A proposta inicial era fazer um Thrash Metal oitentista, quando eu (Victor) fui convidado pra ser o guitarra da banda também estava na vibe do thrash, mas com a entrada do Matheus (vocal) que trouxe varias de suas influências e seu vocal mais puxado pro gutural, lentamente fomos trazidos pro death metal.



2. O logo do Enforcation me lembra levemente o logo dos poloneses do Decapitated por ser tão incrível quanto. Quem o idealizou?

Victor: Você deve estar se referindo ao nosso primeiro logo, utilizado nos últimos álbuns. Realmente ele lembra o logo do Decapitated, foi feito por Nettowolf. Gostávamos muito dele até descobrir que já existia uma banda latina que usava um logo com exatamente a mesma fonte do nosso. Tivemos que bolar um outro com um artista chamado Yago Dawkings, que fez um trabalho excepcional. Ainda estamos apaixonados por esse novo logo que é o que estamos usando atualmente na página do Facebook, nas camisetas etc.

3. Apesar da banda ter aí seus dois anos de estrada apenas, já tem temática definida em gore, horror e sofrimento, segundo o Metallum. Como funciona a construção das letras do Enforcation, desde produzi-las até incorporá-las às músicas?

Victor: Na maioria das vezes eu gosto de inventar a própria história pra música ou modificar alguma já existente. As influências vem de diversos lugares, de filmes clássicos até histórias mais bizarras indo pro lado psicológico. Depois do instrumental já feito, eu começo a pensar em qual tema combinaria abordar com aquelas melodias e, em alguns poucos casos, eu já estou com o tema na mente quando estou compondo o instrumental.

4. Quais as influências sonoras que cada um de vocês traz para o Enforcation?

Victor: De forma geral, trazemos as mesmas influências pra banda, como: Death, Morbid Angel e Cannibal Corpse.

5. ‘Chapel of Screams’, demo lançada em 2014, foi o primeiro trabalho do Enforcation. Desde esse primeiro, já é possível sentir que o som de vocês é único, encorpado, apesar da qualidade de gravação um tanto baixa como geralmente ocorre com toda demo. Como foi produzi-la?

Victor: Essa época a gente já estava começando a tocar algumas musicas próprias em shows e queríamos muito ter algum material gravado pra poder divulgar. O Matheus (vocal) já possuía algum conhecimento de gravação, então decidimos gravar na casa dele, fizemos uma vaquinha pra comprar um microfone razoavelmente bom e pegamos uma interface de áudio emprestada. Eu lembro que passamos praticamente o dia inteiro gravando, das 9h até as 22 e na época o resultado nos impressionou. Ficamos muito satisfeitos com o que tínhamos feito com tão pouco.




6. Em 2014 mesmo vocês lançaram um álbum single, contendo ‘Enforcation Intro’ que abre o álbum lindamente ao deixar certa atmosfera sombria, para logo dar lugar a eletrizante ‘Night of Mayhem’, na qual destaco o vocal e a rapidez dos riffs. Como foi gravá-lo e lançá-lo?

Victor: Um amigo nosso que seguia com um projeto final de produção fonográfica precisava de uma banda pra gravar e ser o experimento pros alunos, fomos os escolhidos e ficamos muito felizes por essa oportunidade de gravar em um estúdio de verdade, porém a data de gravação batia com a data da minha viagem, então ficou encarregado com o Matheus de gravar todas as guitarras, enquanto ele gravava, eu ganhava um piano de presente e já começava a bolar a intro pra música. Quando lançamos tivemos ótima repercussão, e até hoje acho que é a musica mais querida pelo público.




7. Pelo que pudemos ver ao conferir algumas fotos na página do Enforcation no Facebook, vocês participam de alguns fests na região com bastante frequência, como por exemplo Conexão Metal, Bones Rock Fest, etc. Como descreveriam a cena do metal underground em Sorocaba e região?

Victor: Com certeza o ponto alto da cena é nos eventos realizados pela secretaria de cultura de Votorantim, chamado Palco Livre. Esse evento free realizado em média uma vez por mês sempre traz bandas novas e de diferentes regiões, mas sem sair do contexto do metal. A Enforcation já tocou algumas vezes e é simplesmente fantástico o público e a energia do lugar, mas quando se trata de concertos em bares/casas de show, já não posso dizer o mesmo, mas sempre tem aquele público fiel!




8. Em 2015, saiu o mais recente trabalho do Enforcation, o EP ‘Pits of Fire and Torment’. Como foi compor e gravar este trabalho incrível?

Victor: Foi muito bom, a gente já tinha músicas novas esperando pra serem gravadas desde a época do 'Night of Mayhem', nessa época eu e o Matheus compúnhamos separadamente, mas sempre dando a liberdade pra cada um dar a sua opinião na musica do outro e quando decidimos gravar, ficamos muito ansiosos. Agora, com um pouco mais de conhecimento, gravamos no mesmo esquema da demo, mas gravando a bateria e os vocais em um estúdio separado, fizemos o que estava ao nosso alcance e ficamos satisfeitos com o resultado.

9. Em Janeiro deste ano, vocês realizaram o evento ‘The Morbid Ocean Ritual Night’, para lançamento do EP citado acima, ao lado da paulistana Espera XIII. Como foi esta noite de unir o trabalho excelente do Enforcation com a qualidade também excepcional da Espera?

Victor:  Excelente experiência, o Espera XIII tem uma temática diferente da nossa, mas no fundo a essência é a mesma. Conhecer esses caras pessoalmente foi fantástico. Além do companheirismo, são ótimos músicos.




10. Há dois meses saiu o clipe para a faixa ‘Melody of Immortality’. Como foi idealizar e gravar?

Victor:  Foi um vídeo lyric bem simples feito pelo Matheus, usando trechos de shows antigos, para dar um charme a mais nessa música.




11. Como descreveriam o som do Enforcation, usando três palavras apenas?

Victor:  Peso, Obscuridade, Atmosférico.




12. Como está a agenda do Enforcation? E que planos tem para um futuro próximo?

Victor: Não sei quando vai ao ar essa entrevista, mas no momento estamos só com um show marcado no Brutal Metal fest II com várias bandas fodidas de metal extremo e a banda norte americana Master como headliner, dia 06/12/15. Nosso próximo plano é gravar um single e um video clipe mostrando nossa nova identidade. O lançamento está previsto para começo de 2016.
