Kaotik é uma banda que conheci no Encyclopaedia Metallum, na seção de bandas aleatórias. Eu gostei tanto do nome que fui no YouTube conferir o trabalho deles. Confira a banda e essa entrevista que fizemos com eles!

 I. Oi, Kaotik! Agradeço, em nome do Oroborus Blog, por esta oportunidade de entrevistá-los! É de alguma forma comum, bandas de old school death metal ter nomes tão  impactantes quanto seu som, o que também ocorre com Kaotik. Por que vocês escolheram este nome para representar a banda?

-- Bem, não há uma grande resposta para isso. Nós apenas queríamos algo simples, destruidor e compreensível tanto em inglês, quanto em francês. Fred veio com essa ideia em 2007 e todos nós pensamos que era legal para a banda.





II. Kaotik tem cinco membros agora, certo? Qual é a história por trás da formação que começou em 2007? E, quais seriam as principais influências musicais cada um de vocês traz para a banda?

-- Você sabe que, na realidade, somos apenas um bando de caras que amam todo tipo de metal e que queriam começar a tocar o próprio som nem que fosse em um quarto juntos. Nós gostamos de dizer que representamos o old death metal e tentamos permanecer fiel ao gênero e à sua história ao adicionar o nosso toque pessoal a ele.

III. Encyclopaedia Metallum nos diz que seus temas líricos são zumbis, horror, assassinato, guerra, invasão e terror. Então, como é compor as letras para o Kaotik? Vocês pesquisam sobre na literatura ou mesmo livros de história?

-- Pesquisamos quase nada, na verdade, ou talvez muito pouco. Nós gostamos de manter as coisas simples. Se vamos escrever sobre um evento histórico, nós vamos ficar com o básico que sabemos sobre ele e, você sabe, a exata veracidade do referido evento não é o ponto que estamos girando em torno, o ponto é a brutalidade e violência com que ocorreu. E, sim, o Encyclopaedia Metallum nos entendeu direitinho, esses temas são exatamente tudo sobre o que nós gostamos de escrever!





IV. O primeiro trabalho do Kaotik foi lançado em 2009. 'New Born Khaos' foi realmente uma ótima maneira de começar as coisas! Gostaria de destacar as faixas "Canibal Cops" e "Born To Kill". Como foi compor e gravar este trabalho? E o que sobre a arte de capa, que realmente tem uma alma thrash?


-- Começamos a escrever 'New Born Khaos' por volta de 2007. Éramos muito mais jovens e alguns de nós nem sequer tinha pelos na cara, assim você pode entender que nossas mentalidades eram muito diferentes naquela época. O processo de gravação foi meio estranho porque mesmo nós sermos bastante bons músicos, foi a primeira vez de estúdio para todos e isso tudo também envolveu uma grande quantidade de álcool, mas tudo correu muito bem.

 'Starving Death' é o primeiro full-length da banda que já nos mostra a que veio Kaotik.

V. O segundo trabalho é o primeiro álbum do Kaotik. 'Starving Death' saiu em 2011, via independente. Gostaria de destacar as músicas "Lobotomy", "Bad Awakening" e uma última "Inbreeding". Como foi o processo de gravação deste álbum? Além disso, neste trabalho, algumas pessoas famosas trabalharam com o Kaotik nos vocais: Dan Swanö e Luc Lemay. Então, como é que esta parceria aconteceu?
-- O processo de gravação fluiu da melhor forma para este álbum, uma vez que já tínhamos muito mais experiência em estúdio. Pierre-Luc conheceu Luc Lemay no Deathfest de 2010, em Maryland e contou-lhe sobre o nosso projeto. O cara e muito aberto à ideias e as coisas correram sem problemas desde aquela época. Também queríamos um backing vocal meio "infestdead" e, uma vez  que Dan Swano já estava masterizando, ele acabou fazendo esse vocal. Foi ótimo ter o Sr. Swano no álbum já que ele é tão fácil de trabalhar.






VI. O mais recente trabalho do Kaotik foi lançado no ano passado e é o segundo full-length da banda! Você vê que esta é uma obra impressionante desde a primeira vez que você olha para sua arte da capa por Dan Seagrave. Parece que Kaotik tornou-se um pouco mais obscura. Além disso, o som tornou-se mais pesado, um pouco mais levado para o lado death metal da força (risos). 'Torment' vem, certamente, mostrando-nos que quanto mais o Kaotik anda, melhor fica! Vocês podem nos contar um pouco sobre como esta obra-prima foi feita?

-- Estamos ficando mais confortáveis com o old school death metal conforme o tempo passa e para nós, 'Torment' é a evolução do 'Starving Death', porque além de melhorar o nosso som, o processo de escrita é aproximadamente o mesmo, nós principalmente compomos músicas nas jams que fazemos juntos. Cheias de riffs aleatórios, a gente seleciona e mantém os melhores, mas de vez em quando alguém traz uma música pronta, como Alexis veio com "Mentally Dead" e Sam com "Lobotomy" no 'Starving Death'. Assim, estamos abertos desta forma quanto aos processos de escrita também. Estamos muito orgulhosos de 'Torment' e nós sentimos que este é o nosso melhor trabalho até agora.

'Torment' é incrível até mesmo por essa artwork porque ela jjá nos coloca na atmosfera do álbum.

 

VII. Assim, depois de falarmos sobre todas as obras do Kaotik até agora, como definiriam a evolução da música?
-- Naturalmente, nós ouvimos todos os tipos de metal e não-metal também, mas estamos todos 100% satisfeitos quando compomos as faixas. Nós nem sequer temos que falar uns com os outros para saber como nós escreveremos um novo material escrito, logo tudo tem acontecido naturalmente.





VIII. Qual seria a frase para descrever Kaotik e sua música a quem ainda não os ouviu antes?
 
-- Old Death metal muito inspirado, tanto pela sonoridade americana, quanto pela europeia, nos anos 90.





IX. Vocês tem tocado em muitos lugares no Canadá; Kaotik esteve até no W:O:A Metal Battle em 2015! O que vocês pensam sobre a cena local do metal underground? E, além disso, Kaotik, quais bandas underground vocês recomendam a um fã de metal?
--Nós não tocamos por todo o Canadá ainda, mas podemos dizer que a cena underground ao redor de Québec tem crescido muito nos últimos anos. As bandas seriam: Outre-Tombe, ÜltraRaptör, Saccage, Torturer, Survival Instinct, Atroce, Soiled by Blood. E todas só tem melhorado à medida que o tempo passa.





X. Como surgiu a parceria com a Unleash the Underground - grande nome, inclusive?

--Nós nos unimos com uma grande marca para lançar o 'Starving Death'  e as coisas não iam como nós queríamos, portanto, aproximamos a banda à selos menores e acabamos de assinar com a "Unleash the Underground". As coisas tem ido muito mais suave dessa forma. A comunicação é a maneira mais fácil quando você não tem que atravessar um oceano para obter uma resposta, mesmo com a internet e todos as redes sociais existentes hoje. Nos sentimos mais seguros com um rótulo "underground" e até agora com não nos arrependemos de nada.





XI. Vocês pensam em alguma tour na América do Sul algum dia?
--Se tivermos a oportunidade de, por que não? A América do Sul é definitivamente uma parte do mundo que adoraríamos fazer turnê, ouvimos dizer que shows de metal por aí são muito loucos.





XII. Como esta a agenda do Kaotik para 2016? E o que vocês estão pensando para um futuro próximo?
--Antes de irmos para o terceiro álbum, nós vamos gravar um EP e um experimental em ajuste B mais profundo, mais obscuro e talvez um som um pouco "mais sujo", com talvez um ou outro cover.  Há também alguns shows na nossa programação também. Nos últimos meses, todo mundo na banda tem estado bastante ocupado com seus projetos paralelos, mas estamos mudando o foco de volta para o Kaotik e queremos tornar 2016 um grande ano para nós.





XIII. E para terminar a nossa conversa, eu gostaria de agradecer a vocês de novo e desejar tudo de melhor para cada um de vocês e pro Kaotik, é claro. O espaço final é com vocês!
--Bem, muito obrigado mesmo a você por toda a exposição e o apoio! Estamos ansiosos para espalhar nossa música na América do Sul e em todos os países possíveis!

O Brutal reino de Hecate foi intitulado de 'Ultima Specie' e com o som de todas as mortes, nasce o trabalho dessa impactante banda Italiana.

Hecate apresentou seu trabalho intitulado 'Ultima Specie' de forma diferente. Um EP que saiu via Revalve Records e que contem 8 faixas, mas nenhuma das 8 faixas apresenta mais de 3:55 minutos.

Com esse trabalho extremamente rápido e extremamente bem feito e brutal a banda conseguiu surpreender e mostrou que se você tem costume de pular a faixa pelo fato de ela ter apenas 1 minuto e achar que é instrumental você está muito errado e isso não funciona com essa banda.

A obscura forma de fazer o instrumental de 30 segundos da faixa “Anneliese” que abre o EP já mostra a qualidade da banda, pois com um som bem simples a banda conseguiu criar uma tensão no ar e uma atmosfera perfeita para as outras faixas.

"Ultima Specie" é o nome da primeira faixa que tem vocal e ele aparece trazendo uma brutalidade sem piedade e uma profundidade absurda. Um gutural que consegue realmente ser surpreendente e combina perfeitamente com tudo na banda, desde a arte até mesmo os riff’s de peso e a batera ardida e sangrenta.

Com apenas 1:37 a faixa título já aparece trazendo essa brutalidade completa. Logo em seguida aparece a de 2 minutos intitulada “Senza Pieta” que apresenta uma parte muito interessante da banda. Um vocal rasgado que aparece tomando a frente em alguns momentos e em alguns aparece junto do gutural e isso faz total diferença para que a música fique ainda mais interessante e mais profunda. As quedas que "Senza Pieta" apresenta são realmente fundamentais para que a música fique ainda com mais peso. O trabalho da bateria com pedal duplo é fantástico, e em um pequeno momento a banda coloca uma estrutura de Groove Metal na música e faz com que a faixa seja uma das mais surpreendentes e melhor do EP.

A forma desconhecida que a banda Hecate se apresenta deixa perguntas no ar, mas a resposta chega com as músicas impactantes e destruidoras dignas do Brutal Death Metal. Primeira ou segunda música nós podemos escutar e entender o peso, achar que tudo aquilo vai estar no limite, mas quando você acha que o vocal não pode ficar mais pesado, ele fica! "Indignati" é a prova viva disso e logo no começo a destruidora forma da existência da música mostra isso. Um vocal mais aberto aparece e o gutural aparece logo em seguida e isso faz a música chegar em outro nível de peso. Hecate sempre surpreendendo de forma positiva e brutal.

Com seu começo mais cadenciado a música “Bestia Quieta” aparece trazendo o ódio no olho e a forma carregada de arrastar sua alma até a sala de tortura. O gutural com a bateria cadenciada trabalhando com os pratos e o baixo criando uma nuvem de caos. Realmente era o que faltava pare esse EP, o primeiro trabalho da banda e já começando da melhor forma possível, construindo uma identidade Hecate.

Green, white and red, this are the beautiful colors that Italy carries on its flag. This flag is carried everywhere with a band called Bejelit.

With a modern Power Metal style that can make an interesting junction with the progressive, this band bets on a fast played sound like the usual Power Metal is, but they put it a little drop of some Progressive Metal into their history.

Bejelit is still unknown by some people, but this excellent band has a career with many releases and all of them are made with quality. The biggest highlight is the album that came out via Bakerteam Records. This work, beyond the great songs, also completed itself with a sensational cover art by Seth Siro, the king of darkness in life.

The band leaves no failures right away when "The Darkest Hour", which is the first song, comes out transmitting clearly what their work is made of. "The Darkest Hour" begins with an electric guitar and a drums as impactful as these two needed to be. A worthy saying Power Metal voice appears and brings the whole atmosphere for this kind of music. The band is really good at creating atmosphere and climate to their songs, once that at the beginning they are able to demonstrate something darker, then turn it all to its most progressive side, full with this Power Metal usual melodies. This two styles playing along turn this song into something extremely catchy for your mind that it makes you want to somehow devour the CD.

One of the album's best songs appears soon after under the title of "C4" and right away the explosion begins.

Drums, united with the guitar and bass, can stroke it all with fast and well-crafted riffs, the band has a good taste in creating music and they do it very well thought out.

"C4" brings absolutely everything Power Metal asks. Such a fast and sticky at moments song, it has vocals worked extremely well. Vocals know how to be melodic and also have a glowing atmosphere that only this genre it capable to create.

Italy shows its power every time a band is born. A country that doesn't lack of quality or musicians' commitment.
The singer seems very reminiscent of the incredible Tony Kakko from Sonata Arctica, but with a voice a little bit more serious. The musicians have great quality and they can work with wisdom, making a gooey and quality unique work, creating a brand that prints Bejelit on your mind, making you recognize when this band plays something.

Almost every power metal band bets on ballads and Bejelit wasn't different, but the ballad quality is really incredible. "Boogeyman" is the name of the track and it begins in a totally melancholic and beautiful way with a guitar played in a light and poetic form. The singer's voice accompanies the sound of the guitar and it certainly can touch the soul of us all.

This is a track that can end up this album so differently, filling the listener's ears with a thousand feelings among their thirteen track work.

Kaotik is a band I met on Encyclopaedia Metallum, on its random band section. I liked the name so much that I went to YouTube and check out their work. And I got really amazed with it! Check this band and this interview out!

I.             Hi, Kaotik! I’m thankful on behalf of Oroborus Blog for this opportunity to interview you guys! It’s somehow common to old school death metal bands to have names as impactful as their sound, so this is what happens with Kaotik, too. Why did you choose this name to represent the band?

--Well, There's no big answer for that one. we just wanted someting simple, badass and understandable in both english and french. Fred came with this Idea back in 2007 and we all thought it was cool so we rolled with it.

II.            Kaotik has five members now, right? What’s the story behind the formation of the back then in 2007? And, what would be the main musical influences each of you bring to the band?

--You know we're really just a bunch of guys that happen to love all kind of metal and to play music so we got in a room together and started jammin. We like to say we represents old fashioned death metal and we try to stay true to this genre and its history while adding our own personal touch to it.

III.          Encyclopaedia Metallum says that your lyrical themes are zombies, horror, murder, war, invasion and terror. So, how do you guys compose your lyrics? Do you guys research on the literature or history books?

--Not at all actually, or very little, we like to keep things simple, if we're gonna write about an historical event, we're gonna stick to the basic and what we know about it and, you know, the exact veracity of the said event is not the point, the point is the brutality and violence that occured.  And yeah Encyclopaedia Metallum got it right, those themes are pretty much what we like to write about!

IV.          Kaotik’s first work was released in 2009. ‘New Born Khaos’ was a really great way to start! I would highlight the “Cannibal Cops” and “Born To Kill”. How was it to compose and record this work? And what it about that artwork? That one really has a thrash soul!

--We started writing New Born Khaos back in 2007 we were much younger and some of us didn't even have any facial hair yet so you can understand the mindset was very different back then. The recordinbg process was kinda weird cause even though we we're fairly good musicians, it was the first time in the studio for all of us and it also involved a lot of alcohol but everything went quite well.

V.           The second work is the first full-length, ‘Starving Death’, which came out  in 2011, via independent. I would highlight the songs “Lobotomy”, “Bad Awakening” and the last one “Inbreeding”.  How was the recording process on this album? Also, on this work, some famous people featured with Kaotik at the vocals, Dan Swäno and Luc Lemay. So, how did this partnership with them happen?

--Recording process went way better for Starving Death since we had much more experience in the studio. Pierre-Luc met Luc Lemay at Maryland deathfest in 2010 and told him about our project, the guy was pretty open to the idea and things went smoothly from there. We also wanted a back vocal like "infestdead" and since Dan Swano was already mastering, he did the vocal. It was great having Mr. Swano on the album since he is so easy to work with.

 

VI.          The latest work of Kaotik was released last year and it’s the band’s second full-length! You see that this is an awesome work since the first time you see its cover art by this well-known figure in the death metal world. It seems that Kaotik became a little darker. Also, the sound became heavier, little pushed to the death metal side of the force (laughs). ‘Torment’ is certainly showing us that the further Kaotik goes, the better it gets! Can you tell us a little about how this masterpiece was made?

--We're getting more comfortable with old school death metal as time go by and to us, Torment is the evolution of Starving death so apart from improving our sound, the writing process is about the same, we mostly compose songs by jammin random riffs and keeping the better ones but once in a while someone brings a finished song to the others like Alexis came up with "Mentally Dead" and Sam with "lobotomy" on Starving Death for exemple and we are open to this way writing too. We are very proud of Torment and we feel like this is our best work yet.

VII.         So, after we talked about all your works until now, how would you define the evolution of your music?

--Pretty naturally, we listens to all kinds of differents metal and non-metal but we're all 100% satisfied when we make up songs. We don't even have to talk with each other about how we're gonna write stuff so things goes naturally.

 

VIII.       What would be the sentence to describe Kaotik’s music to someone who didn’t listen to it before?

--Old fashioned Death metal inspired by both american and european sound of the 90's

IX.          You guys played at so many places in Canada; Kaotik was at W:O:A Metal Battle in 2015 ! What do you guys think about your local underground metal scene? And, besides Kaotik, what underground bands would you guys recommend to a metal fan?

--We haven't been around all Canada yet but we can say that the the underground scene has grown pretty big in the last few years around Quebec. see : Outre-Tombe, ÜltraRaptör, Saccage, Torturer, Survival Instinct, Atroce, Soiled by Blood. and its only getting better and better as time goes by.

 

X.            How did the partnership with Unleash the Underground - great name though - happen?

--We sign up with a big label with Starving Death and things didn't went like we wanted so we approach smaller labels and we ended up signing with "Unleash the Underground", things goes much more smoother that way, comunication is way easier when you don't have to cross an ocean to get a respond, even with the internet and all social network today. We feel safer with an "underground" label and so far with don't regret anything

XI.          Do you guys think about touring to South America someday?

--If we have the chance to then why not. South America is definitly a part of the world we'd love to tour in, we heard metal shows are pretty crazy over there.

 

XII.         How is Kaotik’s agenda for 2016? And what are you guys thinking for a near future?

--Before going into the third album we are gonna record a EP and experiment in B tuning with a lower, darker and a bit "dirtier" sound with maybe a cover or two and there's also a couple of shows on the schedule as well. In the last few months everybody in the band has been quite busy with their side-projects but we are shifting the focus back to Kaotik and we want to make 2016 a big year for us.

Verde, branco e vermelho, essa são as lindas cores que a Itália carrega em sua bandeira. Bandeira que é levada para todos os lugares com o som da banda Bejelit.

Com um Power Metal moderno e que consegue fazer uma junção interessante com o Progressive em alguns momentos, a banda que aposta em uma sonoridade rápida como de costume do Power Metal, mas com quedas perfeitas colocando o lado mais Progressive Metal na história.

Para muitos Bejelit é desconhecido, mas a excelente banda tem uma carreira com muitos lançamentos e todos eles com qualidade. O destaque maior vai para o álbum Emerge que saiu via Bakerteam Records e alem das músicas excelentes, a banda ainda completou o álbum com uma arte de capa sensacional do artista e baixista/vocalista Seth Siro, o rei da obscuridade em vida.

A banda não deixa falhas desde o começo do álbum “Emerge” e logo de cara aparece à música “The Darkest Hour” que é a primeira faixa do álbum e ela consegue transmitir de forma nítida tudo aquilo que será o trabalho da banda dentro do álbum.

The Darkest Hour começa com uma guitarra eletrizante e uma bateria tão impactante quanto. Uma voz digna do Power Metal aparece e consegue trazer toda a atmosfera para a música. O clima da faixa no começo consegue demonstrar algo mais obscuro que seria o lado mais Progressivo aparecendo, mas a queda perfeita acontece e a melodia do Power Metal aparece trazendo uma música extremamente grudenta para sua mente e isso faz com que você queira devorar o CD.

Uma das melhores músicas do álbum aparece logo em seguida com o título de “C4” e a explosão começa.

Uma bateria que consegue junto da guitarra e baixo dar um violento soco na boca de todos e com um riff rápido e uma bateria bem trabalhada, a banda apresenta uma música de extremo bom gosto e muito bem pensada.

C4 traz absolutamente tudo que o Power Metal pede. Uma música rápida e com momentos grudentos, um vocal extremamente bem trabalhado e que sabe ser melódico e uma atmosfera de brilho que apenas esse gênero sabe criar.

A Itália mostra seu poder todas as vezes que uma banda nasce. Um país que realmente não deixa em momento algum faltar qualidade e empenho de seus músicos.

O vocalista lembra muito o incrível Tony kakko da gigante Sonata Arctica, mas com uma voz um pouco mais grave. Os músicos são de ótima qualidade e conseguem trabalhar com sabedoria, fazendo um trabalho grudento e com qualidade única criando uma marca da banda que quando tocada você sabe que é Bejelit.

Praticamente toda banda de Power Metal aposta nas baladas, e com o Bejelit não foi diferente, mas a qualidade da balada é realmente algo incrível.

Boogeyman é o nome da faixa e ela começa de forma totalmente melancólica e bela com um violão tocando de forma leve e poética.

O vocalista acompanha o som do violão e consegue tocar a alma de todos os que estão escutando a música.

Uma faixa que consegue encerrar de forma diferente e única o álbum, um trabalho de mil sentimentos em 13 faixas e que consegue te fazer escutar a real poesia da banda no fim.
